We believe working together should be simple and transparent. These terms explain how our services, payments, revisions, and responsibilities work. Take a quick look so you know exactly what to expect before starting your project.
Terms governing use of our website and book editing services.
These Terms & Conditions ("Terms") govern your access to and use of https://bookeditingservicespro.com (the "Website") and any editing, proofreading, publishing-support, consultation, or related services offered by Book Editing Services Pro ("we," "us," or "our"). By visiting the Website, requesting a quote, submitting a manuscript, placing an order, making a payment, or otherwise using our services, you agree to be bound by these Terms.
If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the Website or purchase our services. If you are using the services on behalf of a business, organization, or another person, you represent that you have authority to accept these Terms on their behalf.
We provide professional editorial and related services for authors, writers, businesses, and other clients. The exact scope of a project is determined by the written quote, proposal, invoice, order confirmation, statement of work, or other written communication agreed with the client.
Unless expressly stated in writing, our services do not include legal, financial, medical, academic, publishing-agent, literary-agent, or other regulated professional advice.
Prices, turnaround estimates, deliverables, revision terms, and service levels may vary based on manuscript length, complexity, genre, condition of the draft, research requirements, requested turnaround, and the type of editing required.
A project begins only after we confirm the scope and any required payment has been received. If the manuscript, instructions, or requested services materially change after work begins, we may revise the price, timeline, or deliverables. Any additional work outside the agreed scope may require a separate fee.
You are responsible for providing accurate instructions, readable files, complete project information, and timely feedback. Delays in receiving materials, approvals, responses, or revisions from you may affect the delivery schedule.
Editing is a professional and subjective service. We use reasonable editorial judgment based on the agreed scope, intended audience, genre, style, and client instructions. Different editors may make different editorial choices, and our recommendations are not a guarantee that every suggested change will match a client's personal preference.
We do not guarantee publication, acceptance by a publisher or literary agent, bestseller status, sales, rankings, reviews, awards, audience growth, revenue, or any other commercial or publishing outcome. The client remains solely responsible for decisions relating to publication and use of the edited work.
Where revisions are included in a project, they apply only to the original agreed scope and must be requested within the timeframe stated in the order confirmation or project communication. Revisions do not include a complete rewrite, a new manuscript, a major change of direction, newly added chapters, or work outside the original scope unless we agree otherwise in writing.
We may treat a project as completed when the agreed deliverables have been supplied and any included revision period has expired.
Delivery dates are estimates unless we expressly confirm a fixed deadline in writing. We make reasonable efforts to meet agreed schedules, but delivery may be affected by manuscript complexity, changes in scope, client response times, technical issues, emergencies, or circumstances beyond our reasonable control.
If you have a publication or submission deadline, you must tell us before placing the order so that we can confirm whether the requested schedule is feasible.
You agree to pay all fees shown in the applicable quote, invoice, checkout page, or order confirmation. We may require full payment or a deposit before work begins and may require milestone payments for larger projects.
Payments may be processed by third-party payment providers. You are responsible for any applicable taxes, bank charges, currency conversion fees, or payment-processing charges unless we state otherwise in writing. We may pause or withhold work or final deliverables while an amount remains overdue.
Because editorial work is time-based and customized to each manuscript, cancellation and refund eligibility depends on the stage of the project and the work already completed. Any project-specific cancellation or refund terms provided in writing at the time of purchase will control.
Fees attributable to work already performed, reserved rush capacity, completed deliverables, or non-recoverable third-party costs are generally not refundable. If we approve a refund for work that has not yet been performed, the amount may be reduced by work completed and costs already incurred. Nothing in this section limits any non-waivable rights available to you under applicable law.
You retain ownership of the manuscript and original materials you submit to us, subject to any rights owned by third parties. You grant us a limited, non-exclusive right to access, copy, process, and edit those materials solely as reasonably necessary to provide the services.
After all amounts due for the project have been paid, you may use the edited deliverables we create specifically for your project as part of your manuscript or publication. We retain ownership of our pre-existing business materials, methods, templates, processes, know-how, internal tools, and other materials that were not created exclusively for your manuscript.
We will not claim authorship or ownership of your underlying manuscript merely because we edited it.
We treat client manuscripts and non-public project materials as confidential and use them for the purpose of providing the requested services. We may share materials with employees, contractors, editors, or service providers who reasonably need access to complete the project and who are expected to handle such information appropriately.
If a separate non-disclosure agreement (NDA) is required, please request it before submitting highly sensitive material. No method of electronic storage or transmission is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
We will not publicly display substantial portions of a confidential or unpublished manuscript without permission. If we wish to feature a client name, book cover, testimonial, excerpt, or project in our portfolio or marketing materials, we will use it only where permission has been provided or the material is already lawfully public and its use is otherwise permitted.
The Website or our services may reference or link to third-party platforms, payment processors, publishers, marketplaces, file-storage services, or other external services. We do not control those third parties and are not responsible for their content, availability, security, policies, or actions. Your use of a third-party service is subject to that provider's own terms and policies.
You may use the Website only for lawful purposes. You may not attempt to interfere with its operation, gain unauthorized access, introduce malicious code, scrape or copy substantial Website content without permission, misuse our forms or communication channels, impersonate another person, or use the Website in a way that violates applicable law or the rights of others.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the Website and services are provided on an "as available" and professional-services basis. We do not warrant that the Website will always be uninterrupted or error-free, that every editorial issue in a manuscript will be detected, or that the services will produce a particular commercial or publishing result.
Nothing in these Terms excludes warranties or rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Book Editing Services Pro and its owners, employees, contractors, and service providers will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for loss of profits, revenue, business opportunity, data, reputation, publication opportunity, or anticipated savings arising from or related to the Website or services.
To the extent liability cannot be excluded, our aggregate liability arising from a particular paid project will not exceed the amount you paid to us for that project during the twelve months preceding the event giving rise to the claim, except where applicable law requires otherwise.
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Book Editing Services Pro and its personnel from third-party claims, losses, liabilities, damages, and reasonable costs arising from materials you submit, your violation of these Terms, your infringement of another party's rights, or your unlawful use of the services, to the extent permitted by law.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, except to the extent another law must apply. Before filing a formal claim, you agree to contact us and make a reasonable good-faith effort to resolve the dispute informally.
Unless applicable law requires otherwise, disputes that cannot be resolved informally will be brought in a court of competent jurisdiction serving San Diego County, California. Nothing in these Terms prevents either party from seeking appropriate urgent or injunctive relief where legally available.
We may update these Terms from time to time to reflect changes in our services, business practices, technology, or legal requirements. The updated version will be posted on the Website with a revised effective date. Your continued use of the Website or services after an update means you accept the revised Terms to the extent permitted by law.
If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in effect. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of that provision. These Terms, together with any written project-specific agreement, quote, invoice, or order confirmation, form the agreement relating to the applicable services. If a project-specific written term directly conflicts with these general Terms, the project-specific term controls for that project.
